Theseatbeltpre-tensionerswillonly
beactivatedonceandthenMUST
BEREPLACED.Failuretoreplacethe
pre-tensionerswillreducetheefciencyof
thevehicle'sfrontrestraintsystem.
Iftheseatbeltpre-tensionerhasbeen
activated,theseatbeltcanstillfunctionwell.
Seatbeltsmustbestillworncorrectlyunder
theconditionthatthevehiclecantravel,and
replacetheseatbeltpre-tensioneratanMG
AuthorisedRepairer.
Seatbeltpre-tensionerisequippedbesidetheseat
beltretractorsoffrontseats.Althoughtheseatbelt
pre-tensionerremainsinvisible,theyarepartoftheseat
beltassembly.Seatbeltpre-tensionerworkstogetherwith
airbagstoprotectdriversandpassengers.Whenmedium
orseverefrontalcollisionoccursandmeetsthecondition
toactivatethepre-tensioner,thepre-tensionerwillhelpto
securetheseatbelttoreducepassengersmovingforward.
Theairbagwarninglampontheinstrumentpackwill
remindyouanypossiblemalfunctionoftheseatbelt
pre-tensioners(see‘WarningLampsandIndicators'inthe
‘InstrumentsandControls’chapter).
Thepre-tensionercanworkonlyonce.Ifthepre-tensioner
isactivatedinonecollision,itmustbereplaced;youmay
alsohavetoreplaceotherpartsoftheseatbeltsystem.
