UsingBoosterCables
NEVERstarttheenginebypushingortowing.
MakesurethatBOTHbatteriesareofthe
samevoltage(12volts),andthatthebooster
cablesareapprovedforusewith12voltcar
batteries.
Ensuresparksandnakedlightsarekeptwell
awayfromtheenginecompartment.
Usingboostercables(jumpleads)fromadonorbattery,
orabatteryttedtoadonorvehicle,istheonlyapproved
methodofstartingacarwithaatbattery.
Ifthebatteryfromadonorvehicleistobeused,the
vehiclesshouldbeparkedwiththeirbatterylocations
adjacenttooneanother.Ensurethatthetwovehiclesdo
nottouch.
StartingtheVehicle
Ensurethateachboostercableconnectionis
securelymade.Theremustbenoriskofthe
clipsaccidentallyslippingfromthebattery
terminals(asaresultofenginevibration,for
example),thiscouldcausesparking,which
couldleadtoreorexplosion.
