10.3 Description of communication parameter settings
Modbus station address (8 bit)
This address is used to identify the controller in bus or modem mode. In a system, each con-
troller needs to be assigned a unique address.
Modem dialing pause (P)
We recommend to keep dialing pause for approx. 3 to 5 minutes between dialing up to the
control system/the text messaging center to avoid a permanent overloading of the telecom-
munications network. The Modem dialing pause denes the interval between two dialing at-
tempts.
Modem timeout (T)
When the controller connects to the control station (GLT) but without addressing a Modbus
data point, the connection is terminated after the time specied for 'Modem timeout' has
elapsed. If the error status register has not been read during the GLT connection, the control-
ler dials up the GLT again after the Modem dialing pause (P) has elapsed.
When sending a text message, the specied time is without meaning.
Number of redialing attempts (C)
The controller tries to dial up to the control system again, observing the Modem dialing
pause, in case the GLT/text messaging center is busy or the function that triggered the call
has not been reset by the controller. After the specied number of redialing attempts have
failed, OFF is indicated in the controller's extended operating level. The dialing attempt
counter is automatically reset at 12:00h and the controller tries to connect again.
