Display malfunction
(Display is dark, or only a black bar is visible)
System / component Possible cause Remedy
PE line connection The PE line connection is faulty (inter-
rupted or transition resistance to con-
nections too high)
Check the PE conductor: make a visual
check for corrosion damage at the con-
tact spade terminals and plugs, use an
ohmmeter to make an electrical check of
the strands: The conductor resistance
must be around zero Ohms; there is a
fault if the resistance is greater than
approx. 2.Ohms Clean the contacts and
replace the PE conductor.
Flash ROM Flash ROM (program module) defective,
deleted, or rotated by 180
o
or not in-
stalled.
Install the current flash ROM (see “Main-
tenance, replace flash ROM)
Cabling Cable between unit control system cable
(X 13) and display PCB has been inter-
rupted without the machine having been
switched off
Switch off the machine, make the PCB
connections at zero current, switch on
the machine, and restart the program
Cable incorrectly connected to unit con-
trol system. NOTE: (if in effect cables
have been replaced, this may not be the
only fault, and you should consider that
there may be more far-reaching faults in
the system!)
Check correct plug and cable configura-
tion to the unit control system and if
necessary to the power PCB, according
to the control system diagram.
Keyboard / Program malfunction

Key locked (with “key block” card) or no
function programmed to this button (dis-
play message: “button locked”)
Enable the button / program a function
to this button / enter the relevant pa-
rameters (see programming manual”)
Cabling Cable between unit control system (X13)
and display PCB is completely or par-
tially broken, or incorrectly plugged.
Cable between display PCB and opera-
tor PCB is completely or partially broken,
or incorrectly plugged.
Check for correct plug and cable con-
figuration and ensure that the unit con-
trol system plug is firmly seated on the
display PCB and on the keyboard PCB
as per the control system diagram.
Operator PCB defective replace (for dismantling/installation: see
spare parts catalogue)
Programming
Machine and installation number not
entered.
Enter the correct machine or installation
number. If no special installation number
exists, then the machine number is the
same as the installation number.
Milk products Steam outlet not programmed for milk
products (warning sound: “pips”, no
other error message)
Correct the programming (see pro-
gramming instructions)
Accounting mode
Standby button (red) not enabled Correct the programming (see pro-
gramming instructions)
