Flowmeter malfunction
(the message on the display for many of these faults is “flowmeter defect”)

Mechanical faults
Supply pipe
The supply valve in the water supply
pipe (customer side) is closed, the pump
is running dry and making a loud noise
Open the supply valve
Check the rotary-vane type pump and
replace any defective parts (see “Main-
tenance, rotary-vane type pump”)
Rotary-vane type pump Filter at pump inlet clogged clean
Pump motor defective / blocked Check the rotary vane type pump (see
“Maintenance, rotary-vane type pump”
and “Set pump pressure”, and also” con-
trol system diagram, rotary-vane type
pump”)
Flowmeter Dirt or calcium in the housing Clean / decalcify the flowmeter or re-
place it (see “maintenance, flowmeter”)
Non-return valve Baffle clogged clean or replace
Brewing valve defective check and/or replace (see “control sys-
tem diagram, brewing valve” and spare
parts catalogue)
Lower piston Lower piston dirty (also water entering
brewing cylinder)
clean or replace
Outlet piston Outlet piston (micro filter or baffle in
outlet tube) dirty
clean or replace
Grinding degree Grinding degree too fine Adjust grinding degree (see “Mainte-
nance, Setting the Grinding Degree”)
Electrical faults
Power PCB
Defective cabling or plug check (see “control system diagram,
flowmeter” and “Functional description
flowmeter”)
Programming
Incorrect programming (e.g. number of
pulses / prebrewing etc. incorrectly pro-
grammed)
Correct the programming (see pro-
gramming instructions)
prebrewing Prebrewing quantity too great (for fine
grinding degree)
Reduce the prebrewing (see “Program-
ming instructions”)
Unit control system defective or only Flash ROM defective replace (see “Maintenance, unit control
system”)
Load machine data (counter and set-
tings) to new unit control system
Heating time too long
