Chapter 4 Fault diagnosis
120 SMSO-2-02.04- 15.07.03
Steam generator over filled
System / component Possible cause Remedy
Level probe Level probe faulty, calcified or faulty
cabling
carry out checks, and if necessary re-
place (see “control system diagram,
level probe” and “functional descriptions,
level probe”)
Feed valve clogged or defective, or faulty cabling clean/ replace (see “control system
diagram, feed valve , steam”)
incorrectly fitted (inlet/output transposed) Fit the valve in the correct direction of
flow
Electrical faults
PE line connection
The PE line connection to the unit con-
trol system or to the steam generator is
faulty (interrupted or transition resis-
tance to connections too high)
Check the PE conductor: make a visual
check for corrosion damage at the con-
tact spade terminals and plugs, use an
ohmmeter to make an electrical check of
the strands: The conductor resistance
must be around zero Ohms; there is a
fault if the resistance is greater than
approx. 2.Ohms Clean the contacts and
replace the PE conductor.
Unit control system defective replace (see “Maintenance, unit control
system”)
Load machine data (counter and set-
tings) to new unit control system
Water conductivity too little conductive water (usually
caused by the external water prepara-
tion plant)
Check the water preparation plant set-
tings (or arrange for such a check); if
necessary change the settings.
