Crankcase Assembly
NOTE
◆
Be certain that all parts are cleaned thoroughly
before assembly.
◆
Blow through all oil passages with compressed air
to clear any blockage in the crankcase halves and
crankshaft.
!
WARNING
Clean the engine parts in a well-ventilated area, and
take care that there are no sparks or flame anywhere
near the working area; this includes any appliance
with a pilot light. Do not use gasoline or low fl ash-point
solvents to clean parts. A fi re or explosion could result.

Apply a small amount of engine oil to the transmis-
sion gears, bearings and shift fork.
◆
Be sure the mating surfaces of the crankcase halves
are clean and dry.
◆
Press and insert the new ball bearings until they are
bottomed.

Press and insert the new needle bearings so that the
bearing surfaces are fl ush with the end of the hole.

Apply engine oil to the bearings.
CAUTION
The right crankcase and right crankcase cover are
machined at the factory in the assembled state, so the
right crankcase and right crankcase cover must be
replaced as a set.
