10.5: Display Installation
Mount the unit in an enclosure that provides a clean, dry, and controlled environment
(IP65f enclosure or UL508 4x, if indoors). Before installing the display verify that:
• The gasket is flat and undamaged.
• The installation panel or cabinet surface is flat (the planarity tolerance is 0.5 mm/
0.019 in.) and in good condition with no jagged edges. Metal reinforcing strips may
be attached to the inside of the panel, near the panel cut-out, to increase the rigid-
ity.
• The panel must be designed to avoid any induced vibration resonance on the rear
module that exceeds a punctual factor of 10, and to avoid any induced permanent
vibration resonance.
• The ambient operating temperature and the ambient humidity are within their
specified ranges (see environmental specifications in 10.3.1: General Specifica-
tions, on page 10-3).
• The heat from surrounding equipment does not cause the unit to exceed its speci-
fied operating temperature (see environmental specifications in 10.3.1: General
Specifications, on page 10-3).
• The panel face is not inclined more than 30° when installing the unit in a slanted
panel.
• When mounting the display vertically, the right side of the unit faces up (the yellow
button should be on the left).
• The unit is at least 100 mm/3.94 in. away from adjacent structures and other
equipment for easier maintenance, operation, and improved ventilation.
Follow this procedure to install the MDSN/MDLN:
1. Create a panel cutout based on the following information, and install the display
from the front. You can use a tee insert (included with the display) to stop display
rotation when you apply torque during installation. With the tee option, the rotating
