Chapter 7 Additional explanations
This service manual refers to special mode functions (power is turned on while
pressing the “Func” key), but this mode is reserved for Shimadzu service
engineers. To avoid confusion, do not reveal this mode to customers.
7.1 Differences from previous models
7.1.1 WAVE ADJ / WAVE CHECK / WAVE CALIB functions
The WAVE ADJ function was moved from being an AUX function to a
special mode function on SPD-10Avp and -20A models. In its place, the
WAVE CALIB function was added to the VP group. This is to prevent
operators from indiscriminately calibrating wavelengths.
The WAVE CALIB function is basically the same as combining the WAVE
ADJ and WAVE CHECK functions, but features such as leaving a log
record of calibration results have been added. Therefore, for SPD-10Avp
and -20A models please use WAVE CALIB instead of WAVE ADJ.

7.1.2 Clearing lamp usage times
Clearing D2 and W lamp usage times on models SPD-10Avp and -20A has
changed from being an AUX function to being a VP function. This is so
maintenance information can be collectively displayed and operated on in
one location. When “0” is entered for “D2 LAMP USED” or “W LAMP
USED”, the lamp usage time is cleared and lamp replacement information
is simultaneously recorded in the “MAINTENANCE LOG”. As before,
usage times can be displayed using AUX functions.
