Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Introduction
This service manual applies to SPD-20A, SPD-20AV and SPD-20A UFLC
detectors. The difference between the construction of 20A and 20AV models is
the positioning of the tungsten (W) lamp, the W lamp power supply, and the
mercury (Hg) lamp used for wavelength calibration. The difference between the
-20A and -20A UFLC is the specification of the flow cell (-20A: standard cell,
-20A UFLC: semi-micro cell). The figures in this manual illustrate model 20AV,
but the explanatory text applies to both and having the instrument available to
look at should prevent any confusion. However, please note that parts with the
same name for all models may be differentiated using different part numbers.
This manual is intended to explain the maintenance of 20A (including -20A
UFLC) and 20AV model detectors to service personnel of the instruments. It
primarily describes general troubleshooting procedures for problems that could
occur during operation, in addition to maintenance and inspection procedures
that must be performed on a routine basis. The function of certain parts and
mechanisms are also explained for reference. When performing any work on the
detectors, use this manual in combination with the instruction manual for the
instrument. Please carefully observe the precautions for installation and
operation, and make sure the instrument is maintained appropriately and
effectively before using it.
CAUTION:
• This service manual includes only the table of contents entries and no
corresponding text for subjects addressed in the instruction manual. Please
use this manual in combination with the instruction manual.
