DANGER
Hazardous supply voltages
When working on electrical equipment, always disconnect the power supply, check that it is
isolated, and make sure that it cannot be reconnected inadvertently.
‡ Check the rating plate to determine whether the installed loads of the purge air unit sup-
plied match the installation conditions.
‡ Connect the power supply cable in the terminal box of the purge air unit as shown in Fig.
16. Note that any connection diagrams supplied with the terminal box are valid.
‡ Remove the seal at the end of the purge air hose (if present) to check whether it is func-
tioning correctly.
‡ Switch on the power supply.
‡ Note the direction of rotation of the motor
– Does it match the arrow on the motor cover?
– Does it match the arrows on the pump housing?
– A strong air current should emerge from the purge air hose.
If the direction of rotation is incorrect:
– Switch off the power supply.
– Reverse two phase-carrying wires on the supply lead in the terminal box (for example,
between U1 and V1).
– Switch on the power supply again.
– Make sure that the direction of rotation is now correct.
DANGER
Potential damage if the direction of rotation of the purge air fan is incorrect
If the direction of rotation is incorrect, measuring gas will be extracted from the duct when
the measuring system is in position. If this is not prevented in time, it can result in the follow-
ing damage:
• Contamination and overheating on the measuring system and purge air unit
• Injury to persons in the vicinity of the purge air unit (depending on the temperature and
composition of the measurement gas)
‡ Set the motor circuit-breakers in accordance with the connected loads of the purge air
fan and make sure that it works properly.
‡ Connect the low-pressure monitor for monitoring the filters to the signal cable prepared
on site.
Note The switching signal of the low-pressure monitor must be evaluated by the customer.
‡ Check that the low-pressure monitor and connected signal system are functioning cor-
rectly:
With the purge air unit running, partially cover the extraction aperture briefly
using a piece of cardboard or similar object that cannot enter the filter, or cause it to be
contaminated.
‡ Reconnect the power supply to the purge air unit until the measuring system is started.
