8.1 General preparations
‡ The following equipment is required to conduct the repair work:
■ Protective clothing and equipment (see safety instructions above)
■ Means of communicating (telephone/cellular phone/radio) with the personnel respon-
sible for operating the installation, and with the signaling control room
■ Maintenance log
■ The following tools are essential:
– 2 x 24 mm open-ended spanner or box wrench
– 1 x 19 mm open-ended spanner or box wrench
– Hexagon socket screw key set
– Insulated screwdriver set for electrical work
■ Optics cloths without detergents, for example, SICK-MAIHAK order no. 4 003 353
■ Distilled water to moisten the cloths
■ Clean cloths and brush for cleaning the inside and outside of the purge-air filter hous-
ing
■ Replacement parts and consumables (see Section 13.3 on page 117):
– Replacement filter, SICK-MAIHAK order no. 5 306 091, if you are using a purge-air
unit
– If the system has been in operation for a long period of time, you may need a
replacement sealing ring to seal the connection between the measuring probe and
TR unit
– If you are using a weatherproof cover, you may need a quick-drying epoxy resin
adhesive to refix the securing pins if necessary
■ If necessary, a suitable support on which you can lay the TR unit with mounted mea-
suring probe and attached connectors (which protrude on the bottom) securely with-
out them being damaged
■ Alternatively, you can use the angle flange, SICK-MAIHAK order no. 2 017 833 (which
you may have used during commissioning) as a bracket for carrying out maintenance
High measurement gas temperatures or space restrictions (duct insulation), however,
can limit the use of an angle flange.
■ If an angle flange is not used, a suitable protective cover is required for the flange with
pipe on the duct to prevent gases from escaping from the duct when the measuring
probe is removed.
‡ Coordinate the repair activities, and the associated interruption in measuring operation,
with the persons responsible for operating the installation.
All other repair activities are carried out at the measuring point:
‡ Check whether all the components of the measuring system are present.
‡ Check the ambient conditions:
‡ Do the ambient conditions regarding dust, temperature, and air humidity still match the
intended conditions, or have they changed (for example, as a result of structural measu-
res)?
