13.1 System components
The system unit houses the motherboard, the processor board, the controllers and
the power supply. A

" hard disk drive and a 3

" floppy disk drive are installed in
the system unit by default. Quarter-inch, 4 mm and 8 mm cartridge tape drives and
CD-ROM drives can be installed as options.
The following equipment can be attached to the system unit:
● display screens (graphical monitors)
33 cm (14"), 35 cm (15"), 40 cm (17") oder 50 cm (21")
The optional PCI graphics controller is recommended for 50 cm (21") color
monitors.
● other terminals
or alphanumeric console terminal
● printers
connected to the Bitronics, V.24 and LAN ports
or to the V.11 port
● peripherals cabinets
containing additional hard disks and RAID (Redundant Array of Independent
Disks) subsystems
● optical storage media
OD (optical disk) drives and OD jukeboxes
● modems
● other peripherals
such as drives in peripherals boxes, tape (cartridge) jukeboxes
or terminal servers and data multiplexers
● uninterruptible power supply
