7.1 Initial activation of Reliant UNIX or SINIX
V5.42
Reliant UNIX or SINIX V5.42 is already installed on your system as shipped. There
is no need for you to install the operating system unless you wish to use a version
other than the current one or the installed operating system has been destroyed. The
necessary information is provided in the manual “Reliant UNIX Installation and
Operation – RM200, RM300, RM400” or in the corresponding manual for SINIX
V5.42.
For installation you require:
– Reliant UNIX or SINIX V5.42 (CD-ROM)
– key diskette (only for SINIX V5.42)
– delivery information
– Reliant UNIX or SINIX V5.42 Installation Guide
If you are using the preinstalled version, you will not need the CD-ROM containing
the operating system.
7.1.1 Installing the key diskette (only for SINIX V5.42)
If you do not currently have access to the key diskette, you can still proceed to install
the system. However, the license that is set up will then only be for two users. You
should therefore install the key diskette as soon as possible thereafter.
During the boot procedure, a series of control messages are output until a message
appears prompting you to insert the key diskette:
Please install your SINIX authorization file. If you don’t have one, only 2
users are allowed to work on your system. Type ’y’ for <ready> then.
Are you ready? (default: y) [y,n,?,q] _
