6.1 Conditions for online replacement (OLR)
Defective magnetic disks (hard disks) can be replaced by new ones while the system
is running. This procedure is described as online replacement (OLR). OLR can take
place under the following conditions:
– under SINIX V5.42 with an optional RAID controller
– under Reliant UNIX with a RAID controller or with the program Config/XConfig
OLR is one of the high-availability components that are provided in the system
cabinet of RM400 C system models or in combination with the corresponding
RM400 BG31/32 and/or the BG4 peripherals cabinet. The OLR procedure ensures
safe and stable system operation.
