Internet connection
Internet usage
Some features in this product use an internet connection to perform data downloads and
uploads.
Internet usage via a connected mobile/cell phone internet connection or a pay-per-MB type
internet connection may require large data usage. Your service provider may charge you
based on the amount of data you transfer. If you are unsure, contact your service provider to
confirm rates and restrictions.
External WiFi module required
This unit does not have built-in WiFi. To connect to the internet or connect the unit to
wireless devices such as smart-phones and tablets, you must have a compatible external WiFi
module connected to the same Ethernet network as this unit.
Ethernet connection
The unit is automatically connected to the internet when connected to an Ethernet network
with internet access.
WiFi connection
Use the Ethernet network to:
• Connect the unit to the internet. For more information, refer to "Wireless settings" on page
127.
• Connect the unit to wireless devices such as smart-phones and tablets. The smart-phones
and tablets can then be used to remote view and control the unit. For more information,
refer to "Remote control of the MFD" on page 129.
Wireless settings
Provides configuration and setup options for the wireless functionality.
This unit does not have built-in WiFi. To connect to the internet or to use the Link app you
must have a compatible external WiFi module connected to the same Ethernet network as
this unit. The following image shows options available when the unit is connected to a
compatible external WiFi module.
Connect to the internet
Used for connecting the external WiFi module to the internet.
When connected, the text changes to include Already connected.
Connect your phone/tablet
Used for connecting a phone or tablet to the MFD. Refer to "Remote control of the MFD" on page
129.
External wireless modules setup
Use to set the external WiFi module mode, password or reset to defaults.
• Client mode allows the WiFi to connect to a hotspot and access the internet.
