Using a ring compressor, slide piston into cylinder
with a hammer handle, as shown in the next photo.

Crankshaft
Apply oil on crankshaft connecting rod location,
connecting rod cap and connecting rod before
starting assembly.
Install crankshaft into crankcase.
NOTE: To protect seal and ease crankcase cover
installation, apply grease on crankcase cover seal.
Slide down piston so that connecting rod properly
seats on crankshaft.
Secure connecting rod with connecting rod cap.
Torque screws to 12 N•m (106 lbf•in).
CAUTION: Ensure that connecting rod cap is
properly positioned, as shown in the next pho-
to.

Camshaft
Install exhaust and intake valve lifters inside crank-
case.
With the crankshaft in place, align the timing punch
mark of the cam gear with the punch mark of the
crankshaft drive gear. Refer to the following photo.
