Training
Basic training is required for the safe operation of any snowmo-
b il e. Study yo ur Operator's G uide p aying particula r att entio n to
cautions and warnings. Join your local snowmobile club: its so-
cia l a ctivi tie s and tra il systems are plan ned for both fu n and safety.
Obtain basic instructions from your snowmobile dealer, friend, fel-
low c lu b member or enroll in y our sta te or provin ci al safe ty training
program.
Always show a new operator how to start and stop the vehicle.
Indicate the correct riding position s and, above all else, only allow
h im to operate the snowmob ile in a res tric ted flat area — at lea st
unt il he is completely familiar with its operation. If there is a local
snowmobile operat or's training course exis ting, have him enroll.
Performance
The performance of some snowmobiles may significantly exceed
that of ot her snowmobiles you have operated. Therefore, use by
novice or inexperienced operators is not recom mended.
Snowmobiles are used in many areas and in m any snow condi-
tions. Not all mod els perform the same in s imilar condi tions . Al-
ways consult your snowmobile dealer when selecting the snow-
mobile model for your particular needs and uses.

or bystander if the snowmobile is used in r isky conditions which
are beyond the driver's, passenger's or snowm obile's capabilities
or intended use.
Age
BRP recomm ends the operator has at least 16 years old of age.
Speed
Speeding can be fatal. In m any cases, you cannot react or respond
quickly enough to the unexpected. Alway s ride at a speed which
is suitable to t he trail, weather conditions and your own ability.
Know your local rules. Speed limit may be in effect and meant t o
be obser ved.
