16) Choke Lever
This device features a 3-position lever to facilit ate cold start.

Initial Cold S tarting
N O TE: Do not opera te th e thro ttle l ever w ith the choke leve r on.
Move the choke lever to position 3 and start the engine. As soon as
th e engine sta rts move the le ver to p os iti on 2. After a fe w seconds
(10 seconds maximum) move the choke lever to OFF.
N O TE: In severe cold weather, colder than - 20°C (- 4°F) you may
need to flip choke le ver from OF F to position 1 a couple of times
once engine is started.
Warm Engine Starting
Start the engine without any choke. If the engine will not start af -
te r two pull s of the rope or two 5 second attempts with th e electric
startermovechokelevertoposition2. Starttheenginewithoutac-
tiva tin g th e th rottl e lever. As so on as the engine sta rts move the
choke lever to OFF.
