Venturing out alone with your snowm obile could also be haz-
ardous. You could run out of fuel, have an accident, or damage
your snowm obile. Remember, your snowmobile is capable of
traveling further in half an hour t han you may be able to walk
in a day. Use the “budd y system”. Always rid e with a frie nd
or member of your snowmobile club. Even then, tell someone
whereyouaregoingandtheapproximatetimeyouplantoreturn.
Meadows sometimes have low areas where water accumulate
and fr eezes over in winter. This ice is usually glare ice. A ttempt-
ing to turn or brake on this surface could cause your ve hicle to
spin out of control. Never brake or attempt speeding or turning
on glare ice. If you do happen to travel over such a condition, re-
duce speed by carefully releasing the throttle.
Never “jump” with your snowmobile. This should be left to pro-
fe ssi onal stu nt men. D on't show off. Be re spons ible.
While on safari, do not gun” the throttle. Snow and ice can be
th rown back into the path of a following sn owmobile. In additi on,
when “gunning” the t hrottle, the vehicle digs into and leaves an
irregu lar snow s urface for oth ers.
Saf aris are both fun and enjoyable but don't show off or overtake
o thers in the group. A les s experience d o perator might try to do
the same as you and fail. When riding with others, limit your abil-
ities t o the experience of others.
