7.3 CONTROLS

CONTROL RODS, GENERAL
The control rods must be checked with special attention on the condition of their terminals. The
swaged terminals of all control rods must be checked for longitudinal and radial cracks, all fork
terminals for cracks, especially at the transition area of fork root and side frame.
FUNCTION OF FLIGHT CONTROLS, GENERAL
• Check control sticks, pedals, ap levers and air brake levers for smooth and unobstructed
operation.
• Check for correct spring forces in controls and proper locking and unlocking of air brakes.
Check proper ap setting indication on center console.
• Check full deections of stick and pedals to the relevant stops and symmetry of neutral
positions.

Check electric trim for smooth and unobstructed operation over the whole operating range.
Compare trim indication in the instrument panel with position of the trim actuator (nose
down, neutral, nose up).
7.3.1 CONTROLS IN FUSELAGE
• Remove control system coverings in cockpit.
•
Check condition, smooth operation, proper installation and tight screw and rivet
connections of components in cockpit (especially bearings, joints, rods and bell-cranks).
• Check for foreign objects.
• Check tight t of control stops below stick cover.
• Check condition of pedals close to the cable guides and condition of cable guides.
• Check pedals for smooth adjustment, clean sliding guide with alcohol if required.
• Check all control rods and levers, including slides for rudder cables, in center fuselage for
tight t of all joints, proper condition of bearings, damage, scratches and deformation.
NOTICE
Do not use grease or oil to improve smooth operation of pedal adjustment!
• Check condition and attachment of rubber stops on center steel frame.
• Check function and proper installation of trim assembly in luggage compartment of the
tail-boom. Check condition of springs, actuator and all screw connections.
• Check condition of ap gas spring assembly in ap controls for proper installation, tight
t and signs of leakage of gas spring.
