9.2 SUPPLEMENTARY EQUIPMENT
Depending on operational and environmental conditions, further equipment may be mandatory
or supplementary to the minimum compulsory equipment. The supplementary equipment allowed
to be installed is listed in the following selection list.
Certication in standard conguration is only approved for daytime VFR ī˜™ights. According to
operational requirements additional lighting equipment may be required.

9.3 ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS
Diī˜›erent equipment and systems may be installed in the motorglider S12, which are not part of
the minimum or supplementary equipment and which normally are not series standard. Basically
the cases ī˜Additional Equipment and ī˜Optional Systems have to be distinguished and treated
diī˜›erently.
9.3.1 ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT
In addition to the minimum and supplementary equipment, installation of the following devices is
approved. A precondition is that the electrical energy requirements remain within certied limits
and the certied weight of equipment in the instrument panel is not exceeded.
Depending on the instrument panel type the following maximum equipment weights are certied.

Standard 8 kg / 17.64 lb
Ultimate 12 kg / 26.46 lb
Premium 14 kg / 30.86 lb
Additionally a ground and ī˜™ight test must be performed, showing electromagnetic compatibil-
ity (EMC). Changes of equipment may be performed by competent personnel only. An inspector
must conrm the correct installation by an entry in the aircraft-logbook, the EMC-test ī˜™ight, the
continued compliance to the electrical energy requirement limit and the inclusion of the changes
into the equipment list and the weight and balance report. The above-mentioned inspection and
operation documents must be added to ī˜Annex C of the S12 Maintenance Manual.
