MAINTENANCE MANUAL STEMME S12
4.1 GENERAL
This chapter denes the mandatory overhaul (TBO Time Between Overhaul), replacement
(TBR Time Between Replacement), and inspection intervals for components of the STEMME S12.
The chapter also denes the structural inspection requirements for the STEMME S12 composite
airframe. It contains information about the lifetime of all STEMME designed parts or components
that must be overhauled, rebuilt, inspected, or replaced at either specic ight time limits or
specied calendar time limits or that require monitoring through scheduled maintenance.
Compliance with the specied times and intervals is mandatory for maintaining continuing
airworthiness of the aircraft.
For airworthiness limitations of other parts installed in the aircraft not designed by STEMME or
with separate TC refer to chapter 5 and respective manufacturer documentation as amended
from time to time.
4.2 MAINTENANCE LIMITATIONS
Be sure to verify compliance with chapter 4 Airworthiness Limitations when performing
scheduled maintenance per chapter 5.
The following requirements must be adhered to consistent with applicable national regulations.
4.2.1 PAINT FINISH
To ensure that the temperature of the composite structure is kept below 54°C / 130 °F, the airframe
must be painted white as approved. Only the nose cone may be a darker color. On the rest of the
airframe, you may only paint registration letters and numbers and placards in a color other than
white.
When re-painting is needed on a cowling, you must paint the engine side (interior side) of the
lower and side cowlings with aviation grade re-resistant paint approved by STEMME.
Refer to P520-901.502 “Small Repairs of Composite Materials” (latest approved issue), Annex A
of this manual, for guidance on the paint approved for use by STEMME.
CAUTION
Aircraft control surface balance is critical to ight safety. Repair and removal or addition of any
paint or body ller to a control surface requires that the control surface is rebalanced according
Annex D of this manual.
