• Place the cylinder head onto the cylinder.
• Cylinder head nuts and washers must be installed correctly as
shown in the illustration.
A Copper washer
B Steel washer
• Tighten the cylinder head nuts to the specified torque in a
crisscross pattern.
# Cylinder head nut: Initial 10 N·m (1.0 kgf-m)
Final 23 N·m (2.3 kgf-m)
• Tighten the cylinder base nuts
1 and cylinder head nuts
2 to
the specified torque.
# Cylinder base nut
1: 10 N·m (1.0 kgf-m)
Cylinder head nut
2: 10 N·m (1.0 kgf-m)
CAMSHAFT
• Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise, and align the line
A on
the generator rotor with the mark
B on the generator cover
while keeping the cam chain tight.

NOTE:
Just before installing the camshaft into the cylinder head, apply
molybdenum oil solution to the camshaft journals and cam
faces. Also, apply engine oil to the camshaft journal holders.

If the crankshaft is turned without drawing the cam
chain upward, the cam chain will catch between crank-
case and cam chain drive sprocket.
