3-24 ENGINE
If the camshaft journal oil clearance measured exceeds the limit,
measure the outside diameter of camshaft.
Replace either the cylinder head set or the camshaft if the clear-
ance is incorrect.

CAM CHAIN TENSIONER AND GUIDE
CAM CHAIN TENSIONER
For driving the camshafts, two cam chain tensioners are used on
the respective cam drive chains. Unlock the ratchet mechanism,
and move the push rod in place to see if it slides smoothly If any
stickiness is noted or ratchet mechanism is faulty, replace the
cam chain tensioner assembly with a new one
The cam chain tensioner can be distinguished by he embossed-
letters, “F” and “R”, on the cam chain tensioners.
“F”: Front (No. 2) cam chain tensioner
“R”: Rear (No. 1) cam chain tensioner
CAM CHAIN GUIDE
Check the contacting surface of the cam chain guide for wear
and damage. If it is found to be damaged, replace it with a new
one.
Two kinds of cam chain guide are used on the respective cam
drive chains.
1: For front cylinder
2: For rear cylinder
