Appendix A
Regulatory Information
North America
This equipment complies with the requirements in Part 15 of FCC Rules for a Class A
computing device. Operation of this equipment in a residential area may cause unacceptable
interference to radio and television reception, requiring the operator to take whatever steps are
necessary to correct the interference. Shielded cables should be used with this unit to ensure
compliance with the Class A limits.
In order for the DNX-11, DNX-88, and the N+1 Protection Switch to remain compliant with the
various emissions regulations, unpopulated slots in the nest should be covered with blank
panels.
For Regulatory Information on a specific DNX module, please refer to the separate Useer’s
Guide for that module.
This Class A digital apparatus meets all requirements of the Canadian Interference-Causing
Equipment Regulations.
Note: The modem connection is only approved for use in North America.
FCC Customer Information
This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules. On the back or side of this equipment is
a label that contains, among other information, the FCC certification number and ringer
equivalence number (REN) for this equipment. If requested, this information must be provided
to the telephone company.
For single and two-line connections to the telephone network, the plug and jack used with this
equipment must comply with FCC Part 68 rules. See Installation Instructions for details.
If this equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone company will notify you
in advance that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. But if advance notice
isn't practical, the telephone company will notify the customer as soon as possible. Also, you
will be advised of your right to file a complaint with the FCC if you believe it is necessary.
The telephone company may make changes to its facilities, equipment, operations or
procedures that could affect the operation of the equipment. If this happens the telephone
company will provide advance notice so you can make the necessary modifications to maintain
uninterrupted service.
If trouble is experienced with this equipment, for repair or warranty information, please contact
the Sycamore Networks Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at 1-877-526-2321. If the
equipment is causing harm to the telephone network, the telephone company may request that
you disconnect the equipment until the problem is resolved.
