APPLICATION/OPERATION
15. Indications/contraindications
The THERA-Trainer bemo active/passive movement trainer is generally used in rehabilitation for the mobilisation
of the lower and upper extremities. The target group are patients with neurological, orthopaedic and paediatric
diseases as well as dialysis patients. The doctor is responsible for the medical diagnosis, indication and selection
of the appropriate therapy. The THERA-Trainer is generally suitable in the following situations:
‒ As a leg exerciser in a recumbent or semi-recumbent position on the bed/couch.
‒ As an upper body exerciser in a recumbent, semi-recumbent or sitting position on the bed/couch,
chair or wheelchair.
‒ For passive (motor-supported) and active (with muscle power) movement training, and for active and
passive muscle training in combination.
‒ For one-sided leg and upper body training.
‒ For use at home, in hospitals and therapy practices.
‒ For patients who are between 120 – 200 cm tall.
‒ For patients who weigh less than 180 kg.
In principle, the same indications and contraindications apply to therapy with the THERA-Trainer as to manual
therapeutic treatment. Knowledge about contraindications is essential in order not to put patients at risk.
Before each therapy session, check whether there are any contraindications.
Patients may have additional indications and/or contraindications that are not listed here but are relevant.
