17.5.2. Secure the arms
Variants:
Wristbands for therapy grips
Arm rests with bar-shaped
grips
Wristbands for arm rests with
bar-shaped grips
Select accessories to secure the arms as needed by the patient.
Secure arms with gripping function:
Hold therapy grips.
‒ For paralysed/weak hands, use wristbands for therapy grips.
Secure hand(s) as follows:
Place open wristband for therapy grips next to patient on the bed/couch.
Put hand into wristband for therapy grips.
Thread velcro strap 2 through loop and secure wrist.
Place paralysed/weakened hand or tighten its grip around therapy grip.
Use velcro strap 1 to secure hand on therapy grip.
Training with two secured hands should only be carried out under supervision.
Secure arms without gripping function:
Put arm into plugged-in arm rest.
Secure arm in arm rest with velcro straps.
- OR -
Place arm rest next to patient on the bed/couch.
Secure arm in arm rest with velcro straps.
Place arm rest on adapter for upper body training (see chapter 10.2.4).
