17.3. Safety equipment
WARNING!
Risk of injury due to damaged safety equipment!
Before every training session, make sure that safety equipment is working correctly.
Have malfunctions repaired by trained suppliers.
17.3.1. Emergency stop button
In hazardous situations, press the emergency stop button on the control and display unit.
The number of revolutions and the exercising resistance slow down to 0 immediately.
The display unit shows STOP.
If T.assist is available, the status light flashes orange and beeps sound.
To exit emergency stop:
Press START button.
- OR -
Disconnect power plug.
Wait 5 seconds.
Connect power plug.
Press the START button to start the new training session.
If the THERA-Trainer immediately starts with the training session after you press the START button:
Press emergency stop button.
Contact trained supplier and notify them about the defect.
Do not use the THERA-Trainer for further training sessions.
17.3.2. Spasm detection
Possible causes for triggering of spasm detection:
Detected spasm
Irregular pedalling
Uncontrollable muscular activity
Set motor power exceeded
After spasm detection is triggered:
The THERA-Trainer stops the power supply to the cranks.
Cranks are freely movable.
The control and display unit displays spasticity symbol (see chapter 18.1.3).
After 5 seconds, the THERA-Trainer restarts at a speed reduced by 5 rpm.

Set the direction of movement in the submenu after a spasm has been detected (see chapter 18.2).
If spasm detection responds repeatedly:
Stop training session.
If necessary, set the sensitivity for spasm detection in the submenu (see chapter 18.2).
If necessary, reduce the radius of movement (see chapter 11.3).
If necessary, increase/decrease revolutions per minute (see chapter 18.1.2).
If necessary, increase drive power (see chapter 18.2).
