17.4. Positioning
Position the THERA-Trainer as follows for a training session:
Set the height of the bed/couch to the lowest position.
Adjust height of trainer to move trainer over bed/couch.
Hold the THERA-Trainer by the lifting column, crossbeam or drive unit to position it.
Position the trainer in front of the patient.
Optional positioning aid helps with central alignment via a light beam.
Adjust the height of the trainer in accordance with chapter 18.1.2.
Lock the parking brakes when the trainer has been positioned.
Make sure that hyperextension of the knees is not possible.
Make sure that foot rests do not touch the foot of the bed/couch.
Make sure that no cables/tubes are affected by other medical devices.
Use easy entry for an optimum entry position of the legs (see chapter 18.1.2).
Adjust the height of the trainer for a leg or upper body training session accordingly.
Secure feet/arms.
The manufacturer recommends exercising the legs as closely to the bed surface as possible.
For upper body training, the manufacturer recommends that the arms are not fully stretched.
17.5. Securing feet/arms
17.5.1. Secure the feet
Bring foot rests 1 into a convenient entry position.
See easy entry, chapter 18.1.2.
Place feet into foot rests.
Make sure that feet are correctly positioned in foot rests.
Wrap velcro strap 2 tightly around instep of the foot.
Fasten velcro strap on outside of the foot rests.
If these measures to secure the feet are not sufficient for the patient to exercise safely, use further options
(e.g. leg support, foot fixing, etc.). There is a risk of crushing between the foot rest and the crank disc
during training if the feet are inadequately secured.
