Compressor—Alternator Belt
Adjustment
1. Loosen the alternator pivot bolt and the
alternator mounting bolt.
2. Turn the alternator adjustment nut to obtain a
reading of 50 ± 5 on the Thermo King Belt
Tension Gauge or 1/2 in. (13 mm) deflection
at the center of the compressor-alternator belt.
If necessary, loosen the alternator bracket
mounting bolts and turn the alternator bracket
adjustment bolt to obtain the proper tension.
3. Tighten the alternator pivot bolt, the alternator
mounting bolt, and the alternator bracket
mounting bolts.
Compressor—Electric Motor Belt
Adjustment
1. Loosen the electric motor mounting bolts.
2. Position the electric motor to obtain a tension
of 67 ± 3 on the Thermo King Belt Tension
Gauge, or 1/2 in. (13 mm) deflection at the
center of the belt.
3. Tighten the mounting bolts.
Water Pump Belt
Add or remove shims between the water pump
pulley sheaves to obtain 1/2 in. (13 mm)
deflection at the center of the belt between the
crankshaft and the water pump.
