Reading Mode of Operation Charts
The Mode of Operation Charts use the status of
the 1K and 2K relays (or the R1K and R2K
relays) to show the thermostat demand:
D = De-energized (0 volts)
E = Energized (12 volts)
High Speed Cool—1K = D and 2K = E
Low Speed Cool—1K = D and 2K = D
Low Speed Heat—1K = E and 2K = D
High Speed Heat—1K = E and 2K = E.
The following abbreviations are used:
NO = Normally Open
NC = Normally Closed
LLS = Zone 1 Liquid Line Solenoid—NC
HGS = Zone 1 Hot Gas Solenoid—NC
SLS = Zone 1 Suction Line Solenoid—NO
F-COOL = Zone 1 Cool Lamp
F-HEAT = Zone 1 Heat Lamp
F-DEF = Zone 1 Defrost Lamp
1K = Condensing Unit Heat/Cool Relay
2K = Condensing Unit Speed Relay
DR = Condensing Unit Defrost Relay
CIS = Condenser Inlet Solenoid—NO
RLLS = Zone 2 Liquid Line Solenoid—NC
RHGS = Zone 2 Hot Gas Solenoid—NC
RSLS = Zone 2 Suction Line Solenoid—NO
R-COOL = Zone 2 Cool Lamp
R-HEAT = Zone 2 Heat Lamp
R-DEF = Zone 2 Defrost Lamp
R1K = Zone 2 Unit Heat/Cool Relay
R2K = Zone 2 Unit Speed Relay
RDR = Zone 2 Unit Defrost Relay.
