CYLINDER SLEEVE WATER JACKET
ANODE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Remove the exhaust manifold (page 5-95).
Remove the sealing bolt [1] and washer [2] from the
cylinder block.
Remove corrosion and sealing tape from the sealing
bolt.
• Use a soft resin brush or shop towel to clean the
surface. Using a wire brush or sandpaper will
damage the coating of the sealing bolt, resulting in
corrosion.
If it is impossible to remove the corrosion and/or sealing
tape, replace the sealing bolt with a new one.
• When replacing the sealing bolt, replace the screw
and anode metal as a set.
• A new sealing bolt has threads coated with sealant.
Do not apply sealant or sealing tape.
If the anode is worn to less than 2/3 of its original
length, replace the anode assembly as set. See page 3-
20 for inspection requirements.
