MAINTENANCE
Rotate the crankshaft pulley [1] counterclockwise by six
teeth of the timing belt driven pulley gear, and then turn
the crankshaft pulley clockwise by three teeth of the
timing belt driven pulley gear.
If the crankshaft pulley was turned more than three
teeth of the timing belt driven pulley gear, turn the
crankshaft pulley clockwise to bring the No. 1 piston to
TDC of its compression stroke, and then repeat the belt
tension adjustment procedure explained above. Be
sure that the spark plugs are installed properly.
Tighten the timing belt tensioner bolt [1] to the specified
torque.
Install the cap [2] on the timing belt tensioner pulley [3].
Check that the cap groove is installed securely.
Install the timing belt cover (page 14-18).
ALTERNATOR BELT INSPECTION
BELT INSPECTION
Remove the following:
Engine cover
Cooling fan cover (page 5-68)
Check the alternator belt [1] for wear and damage.
Replace the belt if it is worn or damaged (page 7-5).
Check the alternator belt and the related parts for oil
contamination, etc. If contaminated, clean the
contaminated parts and replace the belt.
Check the alternator belt tension or deflection.
Turn six teeth.
Return three teeth.
