MAINTENANCE
BATTERY AND CABLE CONNECTION
Battery handling differs according to the type of
battery. Refer to the battery manufacturer's
instructions.
Check whether the battery fluid is between the upper [1]
and lower levels [2], and check the vent hole in each
battery cap for clogging.
If the battery fluid is near or below the lower level, add
distilled water to the upper level.
Check that the battery cables are connected securely.
If the battery terminals are contaminated or corroded,
remove the battery cables and clean the terminals.
NUTS, BOLTS, FASTENERS
Check that all chassis nuts and bolts are tightened to
their correct torque values (page 2-4).
Check that all safety clips, hose clamps, and cable
stays are in place and properly secured.
CRANKCASE BREATHER INSPECTION
Remove the engine cover.
Check if the crankcase breather tube [1] is bent or
damaged.
Replace the crankcase breather tube if necessary.
Install the engine cover.
A battery can explode if you do not follow the proper
procedure, causing serious injury to anyone
nearby.
Follow all procedures carefully and keep sparks
and open flames away from the battery.
The battery contains sulfuric acid electrolyte, which
is highly corrosive and poisonous.
Getting electrolyte in your eyes or on your skin can
cause serious burns.
Wear protective clothing and eye protection when
working on or near a battery.
Swallowing electrolyte can cause fatal poisoning if
immediate action is not taken.
Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories
contain lead and lead compounds. When your
