thepinsonthegearboxhousing.
5.Continuetodisassemblethegearboxasnecessary.
CAUTION
Usethe1−3/8inchatsontheinputshafttopreventtheinputshaft
fromrotatingduringadapterremoval.Donotusethe1/2inchhex
ontheinputshaftduringadapterremovalasinputshaftdamage
mayoccur.
6.Ifthedriveadapterrequiresreplacement,applyhighstrengththreadlocker
(loctite243orequivalent)tothe5/8inchthreadsofthedriveadapterand
tightentheadapterto150to173N∙m(110to120ft-lb).
7.Carefullycleanallthegasketmaterialfromthegearboxhousingandcover.
8.InspecttheV-ring(item19inFigure218),seals,bearings,gears,and
bushingsinthegearboxassembly.Replacethedamagedorworn
componentsasnecessary.

ontheinputshaftduringadapterinstallationasinputshaftdamage

1.Ifthesungear,ringgear,orthegearboxhousingbearingsarereplaced,
pressthebearingsallthewaytoshoulderinpart.
2.Iftheangebushingsarereplaced,ensurethattheangebushingisfully
seatedagainstthepart.
3.EnsurethatalltheretainingringsandO-ringsarefullyseatedinthering
groove.
4.LubricatetheseallipsandO-ringsbeforeinstallingtheshafts.
5.Lubricatetheplanetgearandsungearpinsinthegearboxhousingwiththe
gearoilandinstalltheplanet,ring,andsungears.
6.Cleanthegasketsurfaceonthegearboxhousingandcoverwiththesolvent
andinstallnewgasket.
7.Fitthegearboxcoveroverdowelpinsandinstallthe4socket-headscrews.
Tightenthescrewsto1.7to4.5N∙m(15to40in-lb).Inanalternatingcross
pattern,tightenthescrewsto8.4to9.6N∙m(75to85in-lb).
8.Fillthegearboxwith80W−90gearoilandtightenthedrain/llplugto4to5
N∙m(32to42in-lb).
Thegearboxoilcapacityforreelcuttingunitsis50ml(1.7oz).
9.Operatethegroomergearboxbyhandtocheckforproperoperationpriorto
installation.
