InstallingtheGearBoxAssembly
1.Parkthemachineonacleanandlevelsurface,lowerthecuttingunits
completelytotheground,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthe
keyswitch.
CAUTION
Contactwiththereelorothercuttingunitpartscanresultinpersonal
injury.
Useheavygloveswhenhandlingthecuttingunit.
2.Safelypreventthereelfromrotatingbyblockingthecuttingunitwithapiece
ofwoodnearoneofthereelspiders.
IMPORTANT
Thegroomergearboxusearight-handthread.Turntheinputshaft
clockwisetoinstallthegearbox.
3.Installthegearboxtothecuttingunitasfollows:
A.Applymediumstrengththreadlockertotheinputshaftthreadsandturn
theinputshaftclockwiseuntilitisseatedagainstthereel.
B.Installanewcotterpinandclevispinandsecuretheheightadjustment
rodtothefrontofthegroomergearbox.
C.Tightentheinputshaftto136to149N∙m(100to110ft-lb).
4.Installtherearrollerbrushdriveshieldifpreviouslyremoved.
5.Installthegroomerreelassembly;refertoInstallingtheGroomerReel(page
9–13).
