15.Removetherighttractiondrum(item30inFigure33)fromthemachine.
Locateandretrievethesquarekeyfromthespurgear.
Note:Ifremovalofthedrumshaft,longspurgear,ordifferentialassembly
(items2,23,or1inFigure33)isnecessary,refertoDifferentialAssembly
(page4–31).
InstallingtheTractionDrum
1.Ensurethatthedrumshaft(item2inFigure33),longspurgear,and
differentialassemblyareinstalledtothedrumdrivehousing;referto
DifferentialAssembly(page4–31).
2.Installthelefthexshaft(item25inFigure33)andballbearingtothebearing
nutiftheywereremoved.Pressthebearingfullyontothebearingnut.
Torquethehexshaftto95to108N∙m(70to80ft-lb).
3.Placethesquarekey(item3inFigure33)intotheslotofthelongspurgear.
Applyanti-seizelubricanttothetopsurfaceofthekey.
4.Aligntheslotintherighttractiondrum(item30inFigure33)withthekeyon
thelongspurgearandslidethetractiondrumontothegear.
5.Insertabarstockorothersuitabletoolthroughthespokesoftherighttraction
drumtokeepthedrumfromturning.
6.Installthejamnut(item29inFigure33)ontothethreadsofthelongspur
geartosecuretherighttractiondrum;torquethejamnutto190to216N∙m
(140to160ft-lb).
7.Slidethelockcollar(item21inFigure33)ontothedrumshaft.Alignthe
holesinthecollarandshaftandtheninstallthepin.FittheO-ringtothe
slotinthecollar.
