1.Removethereelnutsfromthecuttingreel.Checkthesplinesinthereelnuts
forexcessivewearordistortionandreplacethemifnecessary.
2.Slidethebearingsandsealsfromthereelshaft.Discardthesealsand
inspectthereelbearingstoinsurethattheyspinfreelyandhaveaminimal
amountofaxialplay.
3.Inspectthereelasfollows:
A.PlacethereelshaftendsinV-blocksandcheckthereelshaftfor
distortion.
B.Checkthethreadsintheendsofthereelshaft.
C.Checkthereelbladesforbendingorcracking.
D.Checktheservicelimitofthereeldiameter;refertoPreparingtheReel
forGrinding(page7–26).
Replacethereelifdamageisevident.
IMPORTANT
Thesealmustbeinstalledwiththeockedsideofthesealtoward
thebearing.
4.Slidethenewockedsealsandthebearingsontothereelshaftuntilthey
contacttheshoulderofthereelshaft.
