SystemcommunicationbetweenelectricalcomponentsonGroundsmaster
5900/5910machinesisaccomplishedonaCAN−buscommunicationsystem.
Two(2)speciallydesigned,twistedcablesformthebusforthenetworkused
onthemachine.Thesewiresprovidethedatapathwaysbetweenmachine
components.
AllGroundsmaster5900/5910machineshavetwo(2)120ohmtermination
resistors.Oneresistorislocatedattheendofthetwistedpairofbuscables
locatedintheoperatorcontrolconsole(seeAppendixA(pageA–1)).The
resistorcanbeaccessedbyremovingtheoperatorconsolesidecover.The
wireharnessconnectorhasablueinserttoidentifytheproperlocationforthe
terminationresistor.
ThesecondCAN−busterminationresistorisintegratedintotheYanmarECU
andcanbetestedaspartoftheCAN−buswiring.Theresistorisnotreplaceable
separately.
Note:RefertotheElectricalSchematicsandWireHarnessDrawingsin
AppendixA(pageA–1)foradditionalinformationontheterminatorresistor
locationsandCAN−buswiring.
IMPORTANT
Theterminatorresistorisrequiredforproperelectricalsystem
operation.
Testing
1.TheterminatorresistorintheOperatorcontrolconsole(Figure256)canbe
testedseparatelyusingadigitalmultimeter(ohmssetting).Locateresistor
andremovecabletiethatsecuresresistortowireharness.Unplugthe
resistorfromthewireharnessfortesting.
Note:Theinsulatorwedgeintheterminationresistorisblueforidentication
purposes.Therealsoisacenterkeywaytopreventtheterminationresistor
frompluggingintothewrongwireharnessconnector.
2.Useadigitalmultimeter(ohmssetting)tomeasuretheresistancevaluefor
theterminationresistor.Thereshouldbe120ohmsresistancebetween
terminalsAandB.T erminalCisnotused.
3.Iftestingdeterminesthatterminationresistorisfaulty,replaceresistor.
4.Aftertestingiscomplete,makesurethatterminationresistorisfullyinstalled
intowireharnessconnectorandsecuredtowireharnesswithcabletie.
