CHECKING
VALVE
SPRING SQUARENESS
1.
Put the spring
on
a surface plate, place a square
on
the side of the spring, and check
to
see
if the entire side is
in
contact with the square.
2.
Rotate the spring and measure the maximum
B.
(See illustration below.).
3.
If the measurement exceeds the allowable limit, replace. The flat surface at the end of the
spring
coil must exceed the full circumference
by
two-thirds. Check the entire surface of the
spring for scratches.
