CHECKING OIL CLEARANCE BETWEEN CRANKSHAFT JOURNAL AND CRANKSHAFT
BEARING 1
1.
Measure the crankshaft journal
(on
the side of the crankshaft bearing
1)
with
an
outside
micrometer.
2.
Measure the crankshaft bearing 1 with
an
inside micrometer. Calculate the clearance.
3.
If the clearance exceeds the allowable limit, replace the crankshaft bearing
1.
See engine
specifications.
CHECKING OIL CLEARANCE BETWEEN CRANKSHAFT JOURNALS AND CRANKSHAFT
BEARINGS 2
1.
Paste
a press gauge with grease
on
the crankshaft bearing.
2.
Tighten the crankshaft bearing case onto the crankshaft journal to the specified torque
29.4
to
34.3
Nm
(3.0
to
3.5
kgfOm,
21.7
to
25.3
ft-Ibs).
3.
Detach the bearing case slowly, and measure the depression of the press gauge with a sheet
of gauge (paper).
4.
If the measurement exceeds the allowable limit, replace the crankshaft bearing
2.
See engine
specifications.
