CONSOLE COMPONENTS & PARTS
Refer to the following guidance when assessing whether to replace a console component:
Replace a cracked component if:
The crack is sharp or could cause harm.
Plastic is flaking and easily comes off.
The crack is 2 inches or longer in length.
The crack extends into a molded curve in the component.
The crack is significant, as demonstrated in Figure 27 and Figure 28.
Note: Cracking may appear in any location on the console. The following figures picture
significant cracks, but insignificant cracking may also appear in these locations. If you are in
doubt about whether a crack is significant, replace the component.

Do not replace the top cover if the only damage is slight cracking around the window (Figure 29). If
any plastic is missing from the top cover, replace it (Figure 30).

Replace the applicable part if the bosses are broken or stripped. A boss is a channel or void in an
extrusion that accepts a certain diameter screw.
