Installing Multi-Zone (MZ) Dampers
If the MZ segment has a shipping split, 
a rear discharge at the end of the AHU, 
and  a  MZ  damper, the  damper  will  be 
shipped loose.
1.  Identify the gaskets and hardware needed for in-
stallation.
2.  After the AHU top tier is assembled to the bottom 
tier and sealed, install the MZ damper assembly, 
which includes the hot (top) deck and cold (bot-
tom) deck damper banks that are already connect-
ed at each blade as shown in Figure 73 on page 
49.
Distortion will result in unreliable blade 
operation.
3.  Remove the 16-gauge shipping plate, which is 
located between the hot and cold decks from air 
entering side only. 
4.  Applytheneoprenegaskettothemountingang-
es of the damper assembly. 
5.  Center the damper assembly over the discharge 
openings of the hot and cold decks.
6.  Attach the damper assembly to the AHU's outer 
perimetermountingange,usingthescrews pro-
vided.
7.  Remove the 16-gauge shipping plate from the air 
leaving side.
8.  Install the screws through the mounting anges
between the hot and cold decks.
