abnormality.Thistestlocatestheexactpositionofcablefault,
facilitatingnetworkmanagementandlocatingfault.
BothfastEthernetelectricalinterfaceandgigabitEthernetelec-
tricalinterfaceareconnectedtootherdevicesbynetworkwire.
Therearefourpairsoftwistedpaircablesinthenetworkwire,in
which,fastEthernetelectricalinterfaceuses1-2and3-6twisted
paircables,gigabitEthernetelectricalinterfaceusesallthefour
pairsoftwistedpaircablesincluding1-2,3-6,4-5and7-8.Line
detectioncandetectthestatusoftwistedpaircable.Thisisde-
scribedinthefollowinglist:

�Short:Shortcircuit
�Mismatch:Circuitimpedancemismatched
�Good:Thecircuitisingoodcondition
�Broken:thecircuitisopenorshort
�Unknown:Theresultisunknownorundetected

Ifthecircuitisfaulty,testresultoutputsthecircuitfaultlocation.
Ifthecircuitisingoodcondition,approximatelengthofthenormal
circuitisgenerated.
