PortmirroringcanbedividedintoSPAN,RSPANandERSPAN:
�SPANindicatescopyingpacketsononeormoreports(source
port)toamonitoringport(destinationport)ofthisdevicefor
packetmonitoringandanalysis.Heresourceportanddestina-
tionportmustbeononedevice.
�AsforRSPAN,sourceportanddestinationportareunneces-
sarytobeononedeviceandtheycancrossmultiplenetwork
devices.Atpresent,RSPANfunctioncanpassthroughL2net-
workbutfailstopassthroughL3network.Sourceportdevice
supportsportmirroringorVLANmirroring.
�AsforRSPAN,sourceportanddestinationportareunneces-
sarytobeononedeviceandtheycancrossmultiplenetwork
devices.What’smore,itcanpassthroughL3networkandis
anidealremotemirroringmode.Sourceportdevicesupports
portmirroringorVLANmirroring.
