This chapter describes the accessories, operating environment, precautions, and operating check for person-
nel who operate the 6146/6156. Read this manual before using the 6146/6156.
1.1 Product Overview
The 6146/6156 is a bipolar output DC voltage/current source optimal for evaluating precision circuits or parts
and calibrating temperature control devices.
The 6146/6156 features superior linearity and stability to conventional instruments and gives greatly
improved settling time and output noise, allowing highly reliable system architect.
The 6146/6156 characteristics are described below.
• Voltage and current source up to ±32 V/±220 mA
• High precision
6146: Basic accuracy 0.025% (voltage), 0.03% (current)
6156: Basic accuracy 0.015% (voltage), 0.02% (current)
• High resolution
6146: 1 μV/100 nA
6156: 100 nV/10 nA
• Low noise, 3 mVpp, for high measurement reliability
• 10 ms settling time
• Rotary knob for easy operation
• External control I/O signals for synchronous operation
• All-digit continuous variable function and program function (memory recall mode and sweep source
mode)
• Memory for storing 5000 steps
• Remote commands compatible with the 6144
• GPIB and USB interfaces as standard
• BCD remote option setting (factory setting option)
• Newly-mounted suspend function
• Thermocouple thermal electromotive force calculation and output function (6156 only)
• Smaller size than the 6144: 2U half size
