mentcover,andremovethecover(see
below):
Thefollowinginstructionsreferto4D3
cryoscopeswithoutasuffix:
a.Removetheheattransferfluidfrom
thefrontcover.
b.Removethetwoscrewsfromtherear
panelofthebackcoverandliftoffthe
backcover.
c.Removethefourscrewsfromunder-
neaththefrontcover,liftthefront
coverslightlyup,andthenslideitfor-
wardandoff.
Thefollowinginstructionsreferto4D3
cryoscopeswithsuffix"A"orlater,
andtoall3D3osmometers:
a.Removethetwosetsofscrewsfrom
thesidepanelsandthetwoscrews
fromtherearpanel.
b.Slidetheinstrumentcoverupandoff.
Thefollowinginstructionsreferto
4250cryoscopesand3250osmometers:
a.Removethetwosetsofscrewsfrom
thesidepanelsandthefourscrews
fromtherearpanel.
b.Liftandtiltthecoversothat the rec-
tangularopeningclearsthefrontof
theheadcoverfirst,thenmovethe
instrumentcoverback,upandoff.
3.Ifpresent,removeandsavethe screw
holdingthecableclamp(BorF)tothe
coolingsystemshroud(seeFigure2or
Figure5).Firmlygrippingthepump
assemblyoutlettube,removethecheck
valve.
4.Ifneeded,slipthenewcable clamponto
thepumpassemblyoutlettube.
5.Firmlygripthecoolingassemblyinlet
tubeandremovethecheckvalve.
Discardtheoldcheckvalveandcable
clamp.
6.Installthenewcheckvalve,making sure
toorientthecheckvalveproperly(see
Figure4).Connectthenewcheckvalve
tothecoolingsysteminlettube,thenfas-
tenthenewcableclampusingthehard-
waresavedinstep3.
Oninstrumentsshippedpriorto1996,the
coolingassemblyinlettubewasamuch
smallerdiameter.Atubingadapterhas
beenprovidedinthe99133Rkittoallow
easyconnectiontothissmallertube.
7.Withtheheattransferpumpassembly
inletandoutlettubesinsertedintoabottle
ofheattransferfluid,gentlypressthe
pumpafewtimestopurgeanytrapped

air and to check the proper functioning of
the heat transfer pump assembly.
Make sure that there is no fluid leakage
from the tubing connections.
8. Replace the instrument cover.
