2-2 Frequency Accuracy Verification
The following test is used to verify the CW frequency accuracy of the Spectrum Analyzer in the MS2720T
Spectrum Master.
Equipment Required for MS2720T with option MS2720T/709, MS2720T/713, or MS2720T/720
• Anritsu MG3692x Synthesized Signal Source (see equipment list for required options)
• Frequency Reference Symmetricom Rubisource T&M
• Anritsu 34RKNF50 50 ohm Adapter
• Anritsu 15NN50-1.5C RF Coaxial Cable
• BNC male to BNC male Coaxial Cable
Equipment Required for MS2720T with option MS2720T/732 or MS2720T/743
• Anritsu MG3695C Synthesized Signal Source (see equipment list for required options)
• Frequency Reference Symmetricom Rubisource T&M
• Anritsu 34VKF50 50 ohm Adapter
• Anritsu 3670K50-2 RF Coaxial Cable
• BNC male to BNC male Coaxial Cable
Procedure
1. Connect the 10 MHz Reference source to the Anritsu MG3692x or MG3695C Synthesized Signal Source.
2. Turn on the 10 MHz Reference Standard and the Anritsu MG3692x or MG3695C Synthesized Signal
Source.
3. Set the MG3692x or MG3695C output to 1 GHz CW, with an RF Output Level of –30 dBm.
4. Connect the output of the source to the RF Input of the Spectrum Master.
5. Turn on the Spectrum Master.
6. Press the Shift key and then the Mode (9) key. Rotate the knob to highlight Spectrum Analyzer and then
press the Enter key to switch to Spectrum Analyzer mode.
7. Press the Shift key, the Preset (1) key, and then the Preset submenu key to reset the instrument to the
default starting conditions. Press the Shift key, the Sweep (3) key, Sweep Mode submenu key and then
the Performance submenu key.
8. Press the Amplitude main menu key and then press the Reference Level submenu key.
9. Use the keypad to enter –10 and select the dBm submenu key.
10. Press the Span main menu key, use the keypad to enter 10, and select the kHz
submenu key.
11. Press the BW main menu key and select the RBW submenu key.
12. Use the keypad to enter 100 and select the Hz submenu key.
13. Press the VBW submenu key, use the keypad to enter 30 and then select the Hz submenu key.
14. Press the Freq main menu key and select the Center Freq submenu key.
15. Use the keypad to enter 1 and select the GHz submenu key.
Note Do not connect the external 10 MHz Reference to the Spectrum Master.
Note Before continuing, allow a 30-minute warm up for the internal circuitry to stabilize.
