EDGE Burst Power, Frequency Error and Residual Error Tests
Test Procedure
1. Verify that the equipment settings are unchanged from the previous test.
2. On the MG3700A, change the selected pattern to EdgeBurst_4slot.
3. Adjust the level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads –50 dBm ± 0.2 dB. Record the adjusted
power reading into the “Adjusted Output Power” row of Table A-70, “RF Measurements, At 1800 MHz,
–50 dBm Level, EdgeBurst_4slot Pattern (EDGE)” on page A-37. Then wait 15 seconds to allow the
MS2720T to update its measured results.
4. Record the measured “Burst Power” value into the “Displayed Burst Power” row of Table A-70, then
subtract the “Displayed Burst Power” value from the “Adjusted Output Power” reading that was
obtained in Step 3. Then record the “Calculated Burst Power Error” and the displayed value of
“Frequency Error” into Table A-70.
5. Record the displayed EVM(rms) into Table A-78, “Demodulation, At 1800 MHz, –50 dBm Level,
EdgeBurst_4slot Pattern (EDGE)” on page A-39.
6. Verify that the measured values in Step 4 and Step 5 are within specifications.
7. Adjust the level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads –10 dBm ± 0.2 dB. Record the adjusted
power reading into the “Adjusted Output Power” row of Table A-71, “RF Measurements, At 1800 MHz,
–10 dBm Level, EdgeBurst_4slot Pattern (EDGE)” on page A-37. Then wait 15 seconds to allow the
MS2720T to update its measured results.
8. Record the measured “Burst Power” value into the “Displayed Burst Power” row of Table A-71, then
subtract the “Displayed Burst Power” value from the “Adjusted Output Power” reading that was
obtained in Step 7. Then record the “Calculated Burst Power Error” and the displayed value of
“Frequency Error” into Table A-71.
9. Record the displayed EVM(rms) into Table A-79, “Demodulation, At 1800 MHz, –10 dBm Level,
EdgeBurst_4slot Pattern (EDGE)” on page A-39.
10. Verify that the measured values in Step 8 and Step 9 are within specifications.
11. Change the frequency of MG3700A to 850 MHz.
12. On the power meter, press the Sensor key, the Cal Factor
submenu key, and then the Freq submenu key.
Use the keypad to enter 850 MHz as the input signal frequency, which sets the power meter to the proper
power sensor calibration factor. Press the System key to display the power reading.
13. Adjust the level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads –50 dBm ± 0.2 dB. Record the adjusted
power reading into the “Adjusted Output Power” row of Table A-72, “RF Measurements, At 850 MHz,
–50 dBm Level, EdgeBurst_4slot Pattern (EDGE)” on page A-38.
14. On the MS2720T, set the Center Freq to 850 MHz. Then wait 15 seconds to allow the MS2720T to update
its measured results.
15. Record the measured “Burst Power” value into the “Displayed Burst Power” row of Table A-72, then
subtract the “Displayed Burst Power” value from the “Adjusted Output Power” reading that was
obtained in Step 13. Then record the “Calculated Burst Power Error” and the displayed value of
“Frequency Error” into Table A-72.
16. Record the displayed EVM(rms) into Table A-80, “Demodulation, At 850 MHz, –50 dBm Level,
EdgeBurst_4slot Pattern (EDGE)” on page A-40.
17. Verify that the measured values in Step 15 and Step 16 are within specifications.
18. On the MG3700A, change the selected pattern to EdgeBurst_1slot.
19. Adjust the level of the MG3700A so that the power meter reads –10 dBm ± 0.2 dB. Record the adjusted
power reading into the “Adjusted Output Power” row of Table A-73, “RF Measurements, At 850 MHz,
–10 dBm Level, EdgeBurst_4slot Pattern (EDGE)” on page A-38. Then wait 15 seconds to allow the
MS2720T to update its measured results.
